Fahamu Refugee Legal Aid Newsletter

The Fahamu Refugee Legal Aid Newsletter is a monthly electronic publication that provides news, reflection, and learning on the provision of refugee legal aid. It is aimed primarily to be a resource for legal aid providers in the Global South where law journals and other resources are hard to access. It complements the information portal, http://www.frlan.org. The newsletter follows recent developments in the interpretation of refugee law; case law precedents from different constituencies; reports and helpful resources for refugee legal aid providers; and stories of struggle and success in refugee legal aid work.

Funding appeal for FMR

Funding needed for FMR issue on ‘being young and out of place’
In May 2012 the Forced Migration Review(FMR) team will publish an issue on being young and out of place. Young people can be susceptible in particular ways to the stresses of being physically and socially dislocated at a time when they face important changes, rites of passage and the formation of adult relationships.

FMR is a magazine-style publication, published by the Refugee Studies Centre at Oxford University. This issue will present analysis, examples of good practice and recommendations from a wide range of stakeholders including UN agencies, local and international NGOs, academics, and those closely affected by displacement.

FMR is entirely dependent on grants for all aspects of its work. We require approximately GBP56,000 / USD97,500 to produce and distribute this issue in English, French, Spanish and Arabic to the thousands of organisations and individuals who receive it. It will also be freely available online in a variety of formats (html, pdf and audio) but producing FMR in print is important to our ability to share information and debate in all regions of the world.

We currently have a significant shortage of funding for this issue, and fear this will prevent us from producing print copies. We would hugely appreciate help from you as individuals or from your organisation in contributing towards getting this issue of FMR produced and distributed to all our readership. Contributions of any amount count. Your support would be acknowledged in all print copies, on the different language edition websites and on related publicity material.

We can of course supply more information or a more formal funding proposal.

Contributions can be made securely at this link or we can provide bank details/invoice if preferred. Your support would be warmly welcomed.
